Margazhi Mahotsav celebration :
Margazhi month is special for Hindu people which encompass more festivals and events. It is considered as divine month for all. Margazhi Mahotsav was celebrated in our school campus with spiritual fervor on 13th January, 2023- Thursday. Our Principal Dr. S.Ponpandian jee welcomed the gathering . Shri. S. Madhavan jee, Hon.Asst.Correspondent of our vidyalaya was present for the celebration. Students have sung beautiful Bhajan songs in praise of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Students have displayed a beautiful skit reciting the 30 pasurams of Thiruppavai . A graceful dance presentation was performed by our students.Our Hon. Asst. Correspondent Shri. S. Madhavan jee given a divine discourse on the mahimaigal of Marghazhi month. The winners of Thiruppavai and Thiruvemppavai competition were felicitated with prize during the occasion. The celebration concluded with Mangala Harathi.
PONGAL CELEBRATION :
Pongal is the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu, celebrated on the first day of ‘Thai’ (Tamil month). A festival to thank God for all his goodness and mercies and to look forward to a prosperous year. Pongal was celebrated in our school on the 13th January 2023. The students arrived in traditional dress to mark the occasion. Pongal was prepared in the big ground by the teachers with their students level wise in the afternoon session . It was an ambience filled revelry, music, dance and the joyful faces reverberated with big smiles. As the milk came up to the brim of the pot, boiled water and milk overflowed and the crowd cooed 'pongalo pongal' to express oneness. Meanwhile there were other activities conducted. The school management organized a rangoli competition and vegetable carving competition for the Parents.
The Pongal celebration began with the welcome note of Principal Dr. S.Ponpandian jee. Hon. Asst. Correspondent Shri. S. Madhavan jee, Shri. Sugdev jee, SMDC member of the Vidyalaya were present for the occasion. Students have performed a traditional Therukoothu implying the significance of reciting Thiruppavai and Thiruvempaavai during Marghazhi month. It was a brilliant performance by the students. The students of VIII – XII std presented a traditional folk dance.
Sweet Pongal and sugarcanes were distributed to all the students. The day came to an end with the announcement of the prize winners for the best Rangoli and vegetable carving.
